NEW YORK: Gayle Fuguitt, president/ceo of the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF), is to be inducted into the Market Research Council's (MRC) Hall of Fame, a status conferred on "outstanding" professionals in the industry.
Every year since the late 1970s, the Market Research Council has recognised "distinguished and outstanding accomplishments" in this field by welcoming illustrious practitioners into the Hall of Fame.
Existing members include experts past and present, from George Gallup, Erwin Ephron, Arthur C. Nielsen, Sr. and David Ogilvy to David Poltrack and Daniel Yankelovich.
Fuguitt will be added to this list during a ceremony set to be held at the Yale Club, Manhattan, today (20 June, 2014) at 12pm.
She took on her role as president/ceo of the Advertising Research Foundation in April 2013, having served on the organisation's board and executive committee from 2005 to 2012.
In succeeding Bob Barocci, Fuguitt became the first woman to assume leadership of the ARF since it was established in 1936.
Previously, she spent 32 years at food manufacturer General Mills, rising to the position of vp/global consumer insights, and was well known within the industry for championing the voice of the customer.
Among the many initiatives Fuguitt is pursuing at the ARF is working closely with the Association of National Advertisers to improve cross-media measurement.
Also being inducted into the MRC's Hall of Fame is Stuart Agres, principal of Adduce Consulting Services and the owner of Adduce International Corporation.
Prior to this, he was evp/director of corporate research at Young & Rubicam – where he designed, launched and managed its BrandAsset Valuator (BAV) tool – and worked at Lowe & Partners, Adolph Coors Co. and Leo Burnett.
Originally chartered in 1927, the MRC is the oldest, and one of the most prestigious, market research organizations in the world.
A veritable “who’s who” of industry leaders have been elected to the Advertising Research Foundation's Board of Directors.
